Suspects in DHS killing in court this
afternoon
Two men
charged with killing a a U.S. Marine in 2001 are scheduled to be arraigned at
1:30 p.m. today at the Larson Justice Center in Indio, officials
said.
Henry Lozano, a U.S. Marine from Desert Hot Springs was
shot-to-death on Dec. 19, 2001.
On Friday, the Riverside County District
Attorney’s office announced that arrests had been made in the five-year-old
murder mystery.
Emilio Manuel Avalos, 29, of Desert Hot Springs, and Joel
Calderon, 25, of Cathedral City have each been charged with murder in Lozano’s
death.
Lozano was killed on Palm Drive while driving from his fiancee’s
home.
